About The Barbara Harmon Johnson Foundation

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all aid. We believe in co-creation, that the communities we serve must be active participants in every stage of the process, from planning to implementation to maintenance. This approach ensures that solutions are not only effective, but owned and sustained by the people they serve.

By centering local voices and investing in long-term impact, we’re helping communities do more than survive, we’re helping them thrive.

Since our founding, the Barbara Harmon Johnson Foundation has united individuals, families, organizations, and global supporters to transform lives by ensuring access to clean, sustainable water in Kenyan communities. Rooted in Pan-African values of unity and resilience, we empower communities through infrastructure, education, and collaboration, creating  lasting  hope and opportunity. We help you make a difference, together.

As a charitable nonprofit, we steward thousands of contributions from those passionate about advancing clean water, health, and education in Kenya and beyond. We offer flexible giving options tailored to your philanthropic and financial goals, now and for the future. We also:

  • Support clean water projects in underserved Kenyan communities, including borehole drilling, water access systems, and small-scale irrigation
  • Train local water committees to manage and sustain water systems
Support international internships and cross-cultural programming
  • Educate communities on water safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices
  • Build local partnerships that amplify long-term impact
